About
The workbench behind the blog
I’m Shane. I’m a software engineer by trade, but the work I actually love is hands-on: little robots with stepper motors, 3D-printed parts, milled enclosures, and microcontrollers that cost less than a cup of coffee.
The ATtiny85 is my favorite kind of chip: 8 pins, 8KB of flash, and just enough capability to make you get creative. No operating system, no WiFi stack eating your RAM, no frameworks. Just you, a datasheet, and a chip that does exactly what you tell it.
This blog is my workbench notebook. The projects I build, the tricks I learn, the fuses I brick (so you don’t have to). Everything here is tested on real hardware — if a project is on this site, it blinked, beeped, or moved on my bench first.
What you’ll find here
- Getting Started — from zero to your first blinking LED.
- Projects — complete weekend builds with parts lists and code.
- Programming — sleep modes, timers, ADC, and squeezing 8KB.
- Hardware — programmers, dev boards, and the parts worth buying.
